SS- do you not have any Charity Shops for books near-ish?
I'm Book Lady at one and our p/b's are 5 for £1, h/b's 50p - unless I price them otherwise which is rare with my lengthy absences of late. It also means I keep bringing manymanymanymanymanymennies back here to read - always have 10>20, vastly eclectic mix, on the go, according to mood, need etc.etc.
(mot and the twins KNOW how pushy/shovey I am about books and I have 2 boxes for them this Friday - in addition to bras and bedslats, which mot and I decided is just a personalised re-titling of Bedknobs and Broomsticks))

We do have some charity shops but I don't usually get anywhere near the shops while they are open - usually only day in town would be sunday and they aren't open then (charity shops that is). It works well for not spending!
I do a book swap thing with my pals though and once they've all read them do a swap thing at work and once they have been sitting around too long there then they go to the charity shop so in all honesty they are probably the first new books I've bought in at least a year! I only keep a few books that I love - apart from cookery books of which I must own a shopsworth!:o
Bedknobs and Broomsticks is still one of DS's fave films even though he must have seen it about a zillion times.

oh, embarassing money saving admission...today I worked out how to make my washing machine work at 30C instead of 40 - I read the instructions when I bought it (last year) but it seems very, very complex and I gave up but realised today that all I need to do is hit the thermometer button twice - have a good mind to write to them and offer to rewrite the instruction manual!

The Cecelia Ahern book is Thanks for the memories.

Slight possiblity of spanner in the works financially as maintenance may have to be reduced a bit but due to the wonders of MSE it may put my DF date back a bit but only by a few months - will have to wait and see though. The really positive thing is that even if I got nothing from ex I would still be able to pay off debts or save a fair bit each month but when I first came here I would have been totally gubbed if it had been reduced by £20:o . just glad I found this place when I did, it has probably saved my sanity!

Nothing has happened yet Beanie but things aren't looking too good, but then again if ex is out of work for the summer I may save on childcare and he'd get to see lots of DS.... I will keep plugging away though and no matter what I WILL be DF this year!
