Cheap way of getting a camera repaired?

Recently my Canon Ixus850 camera broke. To be more specific the lens won't retreat into the shutter and it displays an error message. I know this is quite a standard problem with cameras. How is the best way to get it repaired without spending too much? All I can think of is a chain camera shop, ask Canon themselves or find a small independent electronics shop. Any ideas?
Thanks in advance

Sadly, unless it's a very good one, labour costs make it uneconomical when you can get a good brand 10MP one for under £100.0

Repair of this will cots about £135 +/- unless of course it is under warranty.
If you google you will find forums that might help. These lenses sometimes get knocked out but can sometimes be pushed back into place.
