I recently had my Barclays bank account cloned, the person I spoke to in the call centre did not even know what that meant, you would think some basic training would help!!

I've a feeling from reading here that most call centers are outsource companies. Eg if you call a Barclays call center you will not be speaking to a Barclays employee but a company that deals with many other companies as well as Barclays.

With the high natural staff turnover call centers have they'll be no point training employess in detail as most will probably leave in a short space of time.

Just an update on the original issue in my post. I went into the branch today to ask to be downgraded to an electron card, she looked on her system and it said the card I have been issued is called a Connect (Electronic) card and she said this has replaced their Electron cards. Can anyone verify this, or was she as ill-informed as the call-centre?

    was she indian?

To be honest id pay the fee for using a non visa electron card, but then thats my opinion, when is it you go away

Pretty sure the fee's just gone up 400%. It was £1 per person per sector i.e. £2 for a return flight. Unless, of course, your booking (in a single transaction) for 5 people, in which case it would have cost £10 in fees for the 5 return flights.

I believe the same transaction would now cost you £40 i.e. £8 per person for each return flight

Yeah we're basically talking about £24 here (2 flights for 3 people at £4 each). I've given up on Barclays and will try opening a Halifax easycash account which apparently gives Electron.
