Is your PC set up to resume on any key press or mouse movement?
Mine used to be, and I found that the mouse was very sensitive to the slightest movement - sometimes just putting something down on the desk nearby would make it wake up, and if you moved the mouse even slightly just after clicking the Standby button it would shut down and then wake up immediately.
I'm not familiar with Vista so I don't know if you can disable it within Vista, or whether you have to do that in the BIOS setup.0 -

yes it does start up if i press a key or move the mouse but unless it is so sensitive that it senses vibrations from me walking then it isnt that.0

i just started this thread hoping really coz i dont think there is anything that can be done. i say that because i suspect the reason why it starts up by itself is because certain activities on the pc start up now and then by themselves. updates checks for windows for example. unless people dont want their pc to update it makes the sleep option pointless.0

You could reschedule the checks for a time when your computer will be on...?My TV is broken!
Edit: refunded £515 for TV 1.5 years out of warranty - thank you Sale of Goods Act! :j0 -
i dont even know what they are most of the time. i just know something is happening because the light starts flickering on the modem or the pc.0
