i used the maximiser as im tracking the Aussie dollar for the end of November the maximiser itself is brill the only trouble is when you clink on the link for eg. crown exchange the actual company themselves aren't much use i filled out the top 2 rated company's enquiry form to give a quote and its over a week now and neither have replied doesn't fill you with much confidence does it ? i am offering them at least £2k to exchange and they cant be bothered to reply to the enquiry?? no fault at all of MSE just the companies themselves!
anyway just thought id mention it lol...........!!!!

Hi mdj1,
The best way to take more money is on the right credit card - or even a prepaid card.
Take a look at this article - http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/travel/cheap-travel-money - where it takes you through the cheapest way for you - unfortunately travellers cheques are very expensive these days and you are better off with a different route.

I thought the maximiser was great too until I got my credit card statement (mastercard/more). I bought £500 of euros online and found I have been charged £12.51 cash advance fee plus £9.32 interest. Not such a good deal after all.

Does the Money Maximiser tool allow you to compare selling prices or only buying prices? i.e. if a person returns from holiday with extra/unused currency, they may want to sell that currency back in exchange for GBP.
I think a tool to compare selling rates would be very useful. Is this planned?
I think this is an excellent idea - I have a large amount of $ traveller cheques that I need to convert back to GBP but am at a loss where to go for the best rate. Does anyone have any suggestions please? Thanks0 -
Over the last week or so, every time I've checked on the current dollar rates, the rates on the maximiser have nearly all been wrong when checked against the rates on the actual sites. Is this because the rates are changing so often that it can't keep up?Trish0

Bit confused, I used the travel money maximser & i got a rate of 1.231 with travelex but when i click through their site to order it only gives me a rate of 1.210
I have found this with a couple of companies but dont know why.
ANyone have an idea?0 -
Coz rates change faster than the travel money maximiser can keep up with them I would guess.0

Its just madness!
There is no point in that Maximiser thing at all, Ive checked a few now & they are different to what the maximiser is saying!!0 -
curious - I usually use Marks&Spencers for my travel money and noticed that this tool doesn't have them in the results - is there a reason why this is0

Bayswater/Queensway in London often offer spot rates or better. I have just secured 1.08 when spot was 1.0620
