M&S &more credit card balance transfers

I received a letter from M&S today saying that I could have 0% interest for 6 months on my %more credit card.
(Offer is valid until end of year)
I phoned to make a balance transfer and they verified all my details and that I was who I said I was, BUT before I could make a transfer I must be in possession of the card (he wanted to know expiry date and security code on the back! (I destroyed the card after the initial 0% period ran out when they introduced the card).
So, before I make a BT they are going to issue me with a new card! >:(
I mentioned to the agent on the phone what a waste of time and money and resources this was and his reply was 'that M&S would be making money out of my BT anyway to make up for it!) ???
After putting the phone down I noticed that the letter included BT postal slips that only wanted the account number and no other details that they guy on the phone wanted.
p.s I think i'll be making more money out of the BT than m&s will - add the 5000 from them to the 15,000 from my egg anniversary offer turns in to quite a nice sum for only a couple minutes work! ;D

For BT cards, I always cut them up on receipt so they can't be used by anyone else but I always retain the bits just in case. Handy for instances like this.0

I have a spreadsheet that lists the important stuff for all my cards - including security codes and expiry dates but the only card not on the list was this one! :-/Bank Charges Claimed: 180

Yes, I do that too but keeping the card bits can be handy in another way: some time ago my RBS Advanta card was used for two fraudulent transactions invoving over £1000. What I normally do is leave the card stuck to its original delivery letter but cut through the magnetic strip, hologram and chip (if there is one) making the card unusable. I was able to demonstrate to the police that my card had never left my possession, had never been used for purchases (only BTs) and thus it was possible to deduce that this was very likely to have been an inside job. This was even more likely when I pointed out that the card had been maxed out with a BT up to the day before it had been used fraudulently.I have a spreadsheet that lists the important stuff for all my cards - including security codes and expiry dates.0 -
Yep, it's true and apparently no balance transfer fee even for existing customers. I rang and asked and the lovely lady I spoke to said no madam of course there isn't a BT fee - everyone is entitled to a BT!! Plus they gave me an increase in my credit limit. Thank you Egg and M&S!
Just remember to stop spending on your card and to cancel any regular payments that might go through inadvertently whilst you make the most of the six months interest-free!0 -
I have a &More chargecard (haven't used it for ages). Would I be able to change it to a credit card and get the 0% offer? ???0
