Excel is not a free program, nor is it included in windows. Either it must be purchased separately or bought as part of MS Office. (Office 2003 and 2007 applications are officially compatible with Vista)

An alternative is to download and install Open Office which is free and the spreadsheet "Calc" can open and save Excel file formats.

Well unless you ordered it with your PC you won't have Excel, it's part of MS Office not part of the Operating System.

Try downloading OpenOffice it's free and is compatible with MS Office files.

You can get a few months out of the trial version of Office 2007 which is free.
