masonic wrote:Well the seller seems to be doing a good job of fooling other buyers, then. Normally you'd expect 1 or 2 previous buyers to spot fake goods and mention it in their feedback. Seller is even square trade registered.
Usually sellers who are square trade registered have provided some sort of proof to ebay that they are legit sellers of that item.
I wouldn't know enough about Nike items to say whether these are fakes or not, however, if reporting them to ebay and to Nike hasn't resulted in the listings being pulled, maybe they are legit?
I do know though that I believe i bought fake Nike football boots from a major High street retailer about 2 years ago . Studs fell off the boots on each and every wearing and the retailer just told me that you buy Nike for fashion not for real use...which I thought was appalling. At the time i was very ill otherwise I would have taken the matter up with Nike or Trading Standards.

Thanks for the e-mail
Unfortunately, it seems impossible to know what the "real deal" trainers actually are! The trainers I receive are supplied through a UK importer although he in turn gets them from the Far East where all Nike trainers are made. The factory supplies a certificate of authenticity but, of course, anyone clever enough to make fake trainers can also make fake certificates! Most fakes are made by the same factories as the real ones, using the same materials. For example, Nike may authorise them to make 10000 pairs. They make 20000 and sell the rest cheaply. With so many shoes on the market and so many counterfeit certificates of authenticity, who can tell which are the real ones? This applies just as much to the High Street stores as it does to us smaller guys. You simply don't know what you are getting.
All trainers imported to the UK can be checked for authenticity by UK customs. In fact, with a previous supplier I did have some trainers impounded. They are sent to Nike for analysis and if Nike say they are fake, they are impounded. Obviously, I no longer use this supplier. I have had no goods impounded from my current supplier. But to answer your original question honestly, I just don't know who is selling "the real deal" or how they could even be sure of this themselves. Even Nike have publicly admitted that they often cannot tell the differenceTreat everyday as your last one on earth! and one day you will be right.:D0 -
Are you paying a lot for these so called fakes? Personally if they was real cheap and looked good it wouldn't bother me if they were fakes. On holiday once I bought some watches, 2 Adidas and 1 Nike. Gave one to my brother as a present and he was well chuffed. When it went wrong he took it to a jewellers to be repaired and I thought he wouldn't get it back as it was a fake and thought the jeweller would destroy it. He got a call the following day to say that it needed valuing before it was sent away for repair so to expect a couple of days delay. When it came back they valued it at £110 :eek: It was the real thing.....I only paid about £7 for it. To be honest if you want to be sure you are getting the real thing you have to buy from a shop and pay top whack for them. Like I said before....if they are cheap and look good it wouldn't bother me. (Says me who has size 3 feet so can get trainers cheap from kids section anyway
)
