speakers on vista

Hi all,
I've got a new laptop, acer aspire 5920. It runs on vista, which I'm just getting to grips with. I know that the speakers have been working, but they seem to not be now. Am I missing something simple? The volume dial is up, the speaker symbol by the clock has been clicked and everything in there is turned on and turned up, so I'm not really sure what's going on.

Any advice appreciated,
Thanks,
jiblets.

i have this problem on my pc running vista when i've used my webcam.....restarting always sorts it but have never actually found out why (no matter what settings i change)

does it sort it after a restart??? driver for the sound card upto date....use the laptops manufactors website NOT windows update (even if its new it can still be out of date)

or even look in hardware and see what make the sound card is and go to their website and update that way (normally googling your sound cards name will identify the problem and its solution)

    hope this helps

I can't get on the website at the moment, it's telling me too many people are accessing the site, but will this be the same do you think?

go to start menu....right click on computer....then left click on proporties.....when the new screen opens look top left corner and you see device manager....left click on that......look for sound video game controllers and it will tell you the make of the sound card in that.....then google the name ending with "no sound" or "problem" see if that brings up any information on your problem first

I had an acer last time too actually, and it didn't let me down at all until the end. 6 years use isn't too bad in my opinion, but I do know quite a few people that don't like them.

As yet I'm still struggling with these speakers though. I downloaded a driver from Cat's suggestion, but it told me the driver wasn't supported or something. Still trying...
