CSMA + Frizzell = cheap car insurance

if you want to reduce you insurance costs, this is my story.

Join CSMA ( iknow the myth is that only civil servants are allowed to join, THIS IS NOT THE CASE) anyone can join ! visit https://www.csma.co.uk

You pay csma £18 (i think at the mo) for a years subscription, in return you will receive a monthly issue of their motoring magazine, with other adverts enclosed too (you get pretty good gadgets on offer somtimes).

once you've joined CSMA (they will send you membership no in post) ring up frizzell car insurance https://www.frizzell.co.uk tell them you are a member of CSMA, and see the price difference you get compared to other insurers, indeed if you ask the operative at frizzell to give you a quote for car insurance with CSMA membership and one without you will be amazed by the difference, i saved nearly £120.00 per year on my car insurance compared to the lowest other quote i could get ( and i got more than 50 qoutes and none of them could even get close)

for me the £18 per year subscription is well worth it.

You could even try ringin frizzell and ask them to give you a quote with and without csma membership (without joining CSMA first), see if they oblige :)

Hope this helps some1- certainly helped me cut costs, try the household insurance the sameway too, you may be surprised.

  • ha ha ha over double cost against comparable cover! (admittedly without the CSMA membership) Is there any way of getting a quote based on CSMA membership without getting it?

I left CMSA and Brittnia rescue because TBH I can get a better deal on rescue cover, Norwich union. When I got quotes from Frizzel they couldnt touch some quotes I got at the time, never went with them in the 4 years I was with CMSA.

You do get a mag but it seems more for carvaners and the gadget mag is pretty naff, all the useless things you normally get with these type of things.

By all means shop around for quotes etc, I just didnt find them all that competitive

True that csma aren't always the cheapest but there are some benefits as a member, i've saved about £90 so far on airport parking.
Having said that, i've just had my renewal quote from Frizzell/csma for my car and found I can save about £40 by going to AA insurance through the MSE system. Could save more, I think, but thats a good start for an old codger like me.
Life in the old dog yet? :hello:

  • As above, Frizzell's insurance will vary for evryone. Just because they saved you money, doesn't mean it will save everyone.

I've been in the CSMA for around 10 years now. When I was younger, Frizzell were the best for me. As I aged, their premiums couldn't compete with other quotes. I still phone for a quote each year, but last time they were £200 more expensice than Tesco.

I retain my CSMA membership as it has saved me money on quite a few occasions over the years.
