connect PS3 to surround??

Hi all i have a PS3 and want to connect it up to my surround sound. The ps3 has an optical port on the back but my surround dosent. Is there a way a can get it connected so i can play my games in 5.1 sound? maybe throught the tv (old style telly not an lcd or plasma)

    Hi,

    The only way you could plug your PS3 into your telly and get 5.1 is if your telly has a 5.1 decoder and has the right inputs to decoder the sorce.

    The only way to use the 5.1 sound is if your HiFi or TV has a 5.1 decoder with inputs.

    My dvd surround system is 5.1 is there a way to get the sound of the ps3 out through my system?

    Yes, if it has an optical INPUT in the 5.1 dvd system.

    Does the PS3 have a HDMI port? If you've got two HDMI in's in your system you can carry the audio over the HDMI.

    the simple way is connect PS3 to TV via HD cable then connect the TV to your stereo thats how i do it awesome sound!!! especially guitar hero 3!!!
