I have clicked on both links for AA and the RAC offers and haven't found any offers that are listed for 10 and 12 pounds. Have they expired?0

I have just received my AA breakdown cover details at £35, Including £20 M&S voucher...Unfortunately there was No mention of vouchers in the letter....so telephoned them " you will not receive your voucher for 8 to 12 weeks" !!!! I said "Why are there no details of this or the voucher on the letter "
and was told "No thats right... you just have to wait the 8 to 12 weeks!!! I wonder if the vouchers will ever arrive. Perhaps they think we will forget about them over the next 12 weeks ...I dont think so:rolleyes:

Hubby and I have had joint/family membership of AA for about 20 years with him as lead member. Renewed this year in January after hubby phoned them up to cancel family membership and just have joint membership for him and I as our kids no longer live with us, gave them his credit card number and then we cancelled our existing automatic renewal direct debit from our bank account.
Weeks went by. No deduction went from the credit card. I emailed them. They wouldnt deal with me as hubby was the lead member. Told him to contact them but it was always tomorrow:rolleyes: . Anyway, few months later, still no deduction from our credit card from AA. Then I saw an offer to get £50 cashback if you are a new member via Quidco, so I applied (via quidco) with me being the lead member this time. AA accepted this and deducted £136 for joint membership for hubby and I. All I had to do was wait for the £50 cashback from Quidco and bonus points from nectar :money: .
However, Quidco has just declined my cashback. Surely I do qualify as a new member as I wasnt the lead member before. They havent given a reason for declining but I've sent another query to quidco.
To add insult to injury, AA then deducted the original family membership that we cancelled in January (£262+ ) They have agreed to refund that after a lengthy phonecall from hubby to them. Still waiting for that  They tried to charge us a cancellation fee but soon changed there minds when we reminded them that we have spent the last few months not knowing if we are covered or not due to their bungling admin staff. :rolleyes:0 -
thanks to this site i have managed to save £35.70 of my renewal cover for the AA. i was quoted £102.00 in a renewal letter that i recieved a few days ago, so after reading my moneysaving e-mail, and reading this thread, i phoned the helpline to say i could get it cheaper via the RAC online. they then offered me a 25% discount which was still more than the rac online quote and i said no... the other deal was better! they put me on hold and a few mins later they came back with a quote undercutting the rac to £66.30.... so i dealt!! happy days!0

OK, We all know the AA may not be the cheapest however, this is only by a couple of pounds. The AA are the market leaders by a long long way. They endevour to fix your vehicle and all their labour is completly free. Remember there are plenty of companys out there (big ones as well) that can charge you around £80 per hour labour charge per hour minimum after say 30 minutesor an hour. At least they do not do this.
My car broke last year and AA were able to do a full electronic diagnostics check on my car at home. I called the local garage to do this for me they wanted £135 to do this, the AA well FREE!!! Can you see an inferior company doing this??? You may save a couple of pounds but at least the AA will not sting you for a load of money when things can and do go wrong. Pay a couple of quid more thats all and get a proper service. if you pay peanuts you get monkeys, and in the breakdown industry you really will get proper monkeys. Take my adive on this and it has been experienced with me, also these smaller companys have you ever seen any of thier patrols ??????? No will be the answer to that as they dont have any - how many AA vans do you see huh?????
One other thing the AA can also pay your repair bills as well at £500 a time, who else can you call upon to do this? My water pump broke last year and they paid £395 to get this fixed the total bill was only £420. Not bed hey.
Ive been with them all the AA well lets say this - i will not be leaving them in a hurry!!!:T:A0 -

I got my AA renewal in for £149 ( I have a few "add-ons" to the basic cover) so I called and said I wanted to cancel as it was too expensive compared to RAC at £105 online. Lo and behold, the AA membership suddenly shrank to £104. "Purely co-incidental" the guy sed - yeah right!0 -
1 months ago I joined the RAC through topcashback. The membership I chose was £33 and I got £21 cashback (been paid and received). So all together my breakdown cover cost £12 for a year. Or....£1 a month!!!
When I joined a got a free bottle of screen wash and a de-mister wipe too which had a total value of (according to RAC) £15 so in theory they paid me £3 to joinThis is my signature. There are many like it, but this one is mine.0 -
Any one got their M&S vouchers from AA yet?
I joined 1.2.09 via the website and have still not had them.
Almost 9 weeks now.
They have not replied to my e-mail either.0 -

It's good isn't it?
I got the renewal for mine and OH's membership today. We have 2 vehicles and have roadside, home-start and relay for both. We were quoted £181.50 which was due to be taken by Direct Debit in May. I phoned them up and said I was going to cancel as it was too high and guess what? No arguments, the lady said instantly "I will get you a 25% discount" so this seems the standard thing at the mo. It went down by £45 to £136.12.
It was well worth a phone call:D
