JVC digital camcorder fault

I have a JVC MiniDV digital camera that I use on the odd occasion. I got it out on the weekend to use (havent used it for some months before this) and when i turned it on it came up with Lens Cap on - cap was off, and the focus was all distorted etc.
Anyway after scouring the internet, I found this is a common problem so went to the JVC website. Others may be interested to know that this is a known fault and JVC have given an undertaking to fix and replace the CCU in the camera - even if the camera is out of warranty - but the offer of this runs out December 2008. So check your camcorder and if it is saying the lens cap is on, go to http://www.jvc.co.uk/template.php?page=100102 and see if your model number is listed and then ring them. They have organised to collect, repair and return the camera at NO cost at all to me.
Hope this helps someone else
