Spybot crashing PC!

After previous problem have just run a full sweep of AVG, Ad-Aware and Spybot after updating them all. Spybot seems to crash PC during it's scanning process (have checked that heat sink and fans are clear of dust!), it then auto restarts then locks up on 'welcome' screen - mouse pointer will not move, etc. Pressing reset button restarts pc but doesn't pick up the master HDD and locks there! Have to resort to turning power off at socket then loads fully through to normal desktop. Don't know what's going on - is this related to the slave hdd suddenly changing to RAW from NTFS? NB AVG and Ad-Aware results were fine.

Just seen your reply, yes, will run safe mode (was running whilst offline) and all is ok.
However, all is not well, it now willnot get past 'welcome' screen even with a hard shut down and still fails to pick up master HDD if using the reset button. Can load up in Safe mode and have run another chkdsk on Master (C:) drive and all is ok. Could it be a software issue? Repair XP pro?I'm mad!!!! :rotfl::jand celebrating everyday every year!!!0 -
Has got even worse now, will not even boot on anything and get message to boot from slave (doesn't have a os on it!) !!!!!!! message is *****IDE DRIVES INSTALLATION ERROR*****I'm mad!!!! :rotfl::jand celebrating everyday every year!!!0

Panic over, just unplugged and reseated all IDE leads and pwer leads to both drives and rebooted. Ran chkdsk again on both drives and all looks ok with no problems. Have shutdown and rebooted three times just to be sure!.. Here's to the next problem  it's bound to happen!I'm mad!!!! :rotfl::jand celebrating everyday every year!!!0

well sorted. though might be the start of something "hardwarish".
Make sure and do a backup asap just in case.0 -
I decided to run Spybot last night. It found two problems. When I clicked "fix problems" the first disappeared but the second which was something to do with AdAware they said had to be fixed on the next startup which was this evening as I was tired. After booting up I have sat here for over 30 mins while it did it's thing. At the end the box stayed on the screen still showing the AdAware red entry and nothing could be clicked. I had to turn off at the mains which I know is frowned upon but I wanted to get online.
Must admit I did not run it in safe mode but how I am I supposed to know I should? Think I will use other spyware remover in future.0
