Hi everyone,
I am trying to backup some old minidisks to mp3 using audacity.
I am using a 2 phono to 3.5mm plug to the line in on my desktop.
I can only get audacity to record in mono (only the left bar moves during recording). If I remove the left phono lead from the minidisk player it still records and if i then rremove the right channel from the minidisk it still records. The 3.5mm plug does look like a stereo one.
Is there a setting somewhere that I am missing? Ive searched sound and audio devices in control panel and cant find anything.
Thanks in anticipation.

Have you checked Edit > Preferences > Audio I/O tab then in the recording section making sure it's set to 2 channels (stereo) rather than mono?
Other than that, if that fails, it may well be the lead/plug...0 -
The 3.5mm plug may be a stereo one (stereo plugs have two black rings), but is the input on your computer?0

Thanks guys. It was the I/O preferences.
Much appreciated.
