I've just been to the Game web site to order the Lord of the rings Box Set to find the price has risen to £44.99. It was cheaper a few days ago so anyone who has ordered it had better check that they're still getting it at the price it was ordered.

GAME have increased their price, but anyone that has already ordered (prior to the change) are being charged the £32.99.

  • I am hoping to by the latest extended edition of Lord of the Rings (Return of the King) as a Christmas gift for my sister, who is working abroad at present. The 10th December release date is cutting it fine for getting postage out there for Christmas day.

Do any of the onliine retailers selling it for sub £20 post for arrival on the delivery date (i.e. dispatch it before day of release so that it is delivered by the Postie on the release date? I know Gameplay do this for new computer games.

Does anybody know what the supermarkets will be charging? Morrisons have sold the previous installments at around £18, but I have no idea whether they were actually available to purchase on release date at that price.

Hoping someone can advise. Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

I ordered my 4-disc extended version from Choices Direct for £17.49, including delivery, but I've just checked, and it's now unfortunately out of stock.

I find Dealtime's price comparison service good for this sort of thing.

  • First of all, get yourself a £1 off e-voucher from Nokia http://www11.cd-wow.com/promotion.php?promo_refcode=14461_1&affid=14461. Make up any old 10 digit number and it should work fine. Only one email address per voucher, so get yourself some new email addresses.

Next use the money off version of CD-WOW! for MSE users http://www8.cd-wow.com/?affid=14024&pp_nr=1

So the price was £17.99, with the MSE discount it's £17.24 and with the Nokia e-voucher it's £16.24.

I doubt you'll see a region 2 Return of the King for less.

BEST PRICE SEEN YET - BOTH ORIGINAL AND EXTENDED EDITION BOXSETS:

www.powerplaydirect.com are selling the original Lord of the Rings wide-screen boxset for £11.99 but I would recommend getting the extended edition trilogy boxset for only £17.99! (as I have just done :) ) you have to be quick though - this was through their special offers 'summer sizzlers' selection which ends this August.

(P.S. I cannot work out if this offer will finish when August starts or ends...we'll soon find out though anyway)
