sony rip off

I have been on lots of forums recently looking at complaints about sony psp.Basically sony psp are encountering problems with something called firmware when you are prompted to update the software if it is interupted in any way the psp becomes useless the technical name for this is bricking .This has happend to my 9yr old sons psp and when i asked sony for help they told me i would hav to send them my psp so they could send me a reconditioned one in its place this would cost me the princely sum of 65 pounds .But it is obvious that sony know this problem exists but are treating it as abit of a cash cow i.e you pay them 65 pounds for a second hand psp and you send them your own psp which they repair and pass on to the next customer with the same problem for a further 65 pounds .Its a ripoff and sony know it but no one seems to be doing anything about it .Ebay is full of peopleselling the psp because they dont know what to do with them .I FEEL SORRY for the children who have had there pride and joy taken off them through no fault of there own.sony keep mentioning warranty but i fail to see what warraties have to do with anything when it is a software problem that sony could put right if he so wished .Has anyone else had a problem like this if so speak up maybe sony will start to listen

But you said in your first post that it "prompted" you to update the firmware which suggests you had a choice which isn't reallt an "automatic thing"...0 -
oh i see what you mean bigdavieh sorry it wasnt so much as a prompt more an instruction as to what the psp would do next it didnt give us a choice problem was we were on holiday away from the appartment at the time an sony say the problem happens when you dont have enough battery power when the update starts and then when the battery drops power the update is interupted.its a common problem so i have learned but sony dont tell you it can happen until it happens0
