as others have said the only problem i see here is the oil on the floor.
when was the last time you opened the bonnet yourself? the catch was probably ready to break if the car is old.
and the work they have quoted you as after service repairs is exactly that,a quote. its not as if they have done the work and now asked for £800.
look at it this way, you asked for it to be serviced so you have asked to know about any defects on your vehicle, they have told you what needs done and now you are unhappy about how much it will cost to remedy these problem.
admittedly £250 for a wiper motor linkage is expensive but not out of the realms of all possiblility for a new part, they can hardly quote used part prices can they?
how would you feel if suddenly tomorrow your wipers stopped working, you would be straight on here complaining about how it was just serviced and they never picked this problem up. service times in places like this are timed to the second so time to think about drilling out an old stud and fitting a new bolt in a service just is not possible.
and the main reason they have priced it so high is because they will make more money changing tyres and exhausts and doing oil changes rather than messing about with rusty old bolts in a wiper motor linkage and maybe even break more stuff the further into the job they get,it does happen, ask anybody on here who has ever tackled a job on an old car, infact any car! so they price themselves out of the job.
oil on your carpet is unacceptable though.
using places like this for the sake a of a few clubcard points for anything other that tyres and exhausts when they are the cheapest is the only reason i would go there other than using a good independant....work permit granted!0 -

It's a pity to label as rubbish every garage in a company. We've used our Nationwide Autocentre for years and have had very good service. On occasion they've fixed things for no charge.
And I like paying with Clubcard points!0 -

True, but these types of repairer do have a general reputation for poor service. Given that, it is safer advice to say 'don't use them' as a blanket comment.
I always used KwikFit for tyres until, about twenty years ago, they tried to con me into buying four shock absorbers. I've never used them since.0 -
In all fairness all garage chains have good places and bad places, our Nationwide Autocentre is pretty good, they've helped me out on many occasions, fixing little problems for free.
Also you said you had a service, that adds to the total, Plus i hear that Puntos go wrong alot, three people i know had them and all three were very unreliable, so maybe those things were wrong with your car.0 -
I have just had dealings with company myself, I booked online an oil and filter change supposedly using Castrol 5W30 oil, when I had the work done the receipt said they used 10W40 oil, the manager said he had to put this on the receipt for some reason or other. Anyway I was sure they had put the wrong oil in so ended up doing an oil and filter change myself a week later. I am trying to get to the bottom of this but National are now ignoring me, I will give them to the end of the week and then I am considering taking them to the small claims court.0

To pay with clubcard vouchers you would have to have exchanged them for clubcard deals, had you done that? If so are you left with a load of Tesco Clubcard deal tokens for Nationwide?.....0

Nationwide Autocentre have now fixed the bonnet catch for free (had to fit a whole new cable in the end) and cleaned out the oil. and for all the hassle I was lent a car to get around for past 2 days!
They haven't sorted out the tesco clubcard deal tokens (sorry said vouchers earlier but meant deal token) yet but they should be going to do when I pop in this evening. Fingers crossed!=====================================
