Can I terminate my Motability contract early?

I have had my motability car for 2.5 years and for the last 6 months I have found the car to be too heavy on my feet to drive, Causes pain..the car is also too big and drinks petrol....Does anyone know if I have grounds to end my contract early and replace the car for a more suitable vehicle?

Thanks

under specific circumstances they will agree to an early termination (as they call it).
I would phone them and plead that this vehicle is unsuitable because you are unable now to drive it without pain and see if they can be flexible about your arrangement.

there is a good forum with some info here:

  • hi. yes it is possible to terminate a contract early. we did this 2 years into our contract, as i was due to give birth to my fourth child and we only had room for 3. we were able to terminate because the car was not big enough for us to go out as a family. however, if you do try to terminate, i would put the emphasis on the point of you being in pain when driving it, and don't mention the car drinking petrol, as they make think that this is your main reason;)

Yes you can cancel the agreement early without the early termination charge on medical grounds for cancelling, but when you ring them you will have to state that it's no longer suitable for your needs and its to painful to drive and is no longer suitable for your condition as your medical condition has worsened as they ask Qs on this when you ring. Telling them you no longer want it because it drinks petrol might make them charge you for cancelling early, as they tried to charge a friend for cancelling until he drilled it in their heads over the phone that it was going back due to medical reasons.

hi im new here but i would like to ask if i do end my motability agreement (i have had a motability car for 2 and a half years now on the hp scheme) would that prevent me from going to another motability dealer and buying another car on motability? the car i have is no longer suitable for me because of health issues, also how long does it take? if we are talking weeks to sort it out its going to leave me in a dire predicament

any and all help very much appreciated
