Cranial Osteopathy for Babies

But "colic" is a worldwide phenomenon and something a LOT of babies do. And for an awful lot of them, it is developmental and they do grow out of it. And I'm not denying how hard it is for parents - it is exhausting and depressing.
So often as parents, we are looking for answers. We try "experts" in books, the internet, health professionals, expensive practitioners and not just about crying - about sleep, about eating, about behaviour.
And sometimes, the sad fact is that there isn't an answer, other than time. We have lost a lot of our confidence as parents and it is important to remember that nobody knows your baby as well as you do."Harry, I'm going to let you in on a little secret. Every day, once a day, give yourself a present. Don't plan it. Don't wait for it. Just let it happen. It could be a new shirt at the men's store, a catnap in your office chair, or two cups of good, hot black coffee."0 -
CA I agree with every word, no one trusts parents to do anything right these days, but with something like colic, if there is a 'cure' - I'd take it up in a heartbeat.0

I totally agree Daphne. And as parents, it is part of our loving and nurturing instinct to explore any possibility of, if not a cure, then some relief for a baby in pain.
People who have experienced positive results are kind enough to share their experience with others and those others explore and try them too.
There is a huge difference between trying some one-off obscure treatment and one which has had widespread positive feedback over a lengthy period of time.
I wouldn't just be waiting for 'time to pass' for myself, if I was in prolonged pain and so I would most certainly never do that for my child.0 -
I am an intensive care nurse. Pretty scientific in my thinking.
There is no published evidence to say that Crainal Osteopathy works or has any basis in science. Same goes for homeopathy.
I've seen distraught relatives try healers, crystal pyramids under the patients beds, laying on of hands etc.
My feeling is if it makes someone feel better and doesnt cause ill effects, then whats the problem.
Lots of parents think that cranaial osteopathy works, and if they and their children are ok then where's the harm......Light Bulb Moment: Feb 2007
