*****american Express *****

I always pay off my credit cards in full every month. Last month I forgot to pay my American Express card and got charged £25.

I payed this months bill over the internet and it didn't show up that I had payed so I phoned customer services.

The lovely customer services lady said it takes a couple of days to go through and she said "I see from last months statement you got charged £25 for a late payment, but seeing as you usually pay your bills regularly I will waive the £25 charge".

Top marks to AMEX!!!

Needless to say, I have now taken Martins advice and set up a minimum direct debit.

  • In my experience, most credit card companies will waive one late payment charge, but if your payment is late again, there'll be no chance of a refund.

Well done to Amex on this occasion though.
