ok we all came on this site for the same purpose to save ourselves money.
So with that thought in mind, i wondered what you guys thought of an idea i had, maybe if there is a good enough response the good people on the boards might look into it.
So on with my idea.
To make some extra money - we can try selling our stuff on auction sites, a lot of hassel some time for not enough pennies.
We offer to give our stuff away to a good home through recycle(which i love by the way)
How about a swap thread. I have something that is too good to throw away, so i offer out to someone who has something im interested in - Alas we both get what we want and it hasnt cost us any money. MONEY SAVERS.
I think this would only work if you swaped with someone in your local area so a smooth exchange can be done and you both hand over the goods at the same time IYKWIM.
Heres my example - I am starting a garden project and would be gratefull to get my hands on slabs, plants an old pond. Cant afford to buy these items at the moment, but i do have sitting around a fully working tumble dryer and tv unit. I would be more than happy to swap for items that i do need.
What do you guys think - could it work ????????
How many of you guys would use a service like this.
I know there are swap sites on the net already, but there fairly naff, and how much better to keep it within the money saving community here.

I think its a good idea, i would use it but your right just for local area only. A swap thread may be good but it has to be made easy so people can find what people have in their location otherwise some people might get sick of looking through pages and pages of stuff and getting nowhere. No you're not a vegetarian if you eat any animal or fish, so do not insult genuine veggies by calling yourself one!
Thanks to everyone who posts competitions. You are the stars of the board :T:j:T0 -
There are a number of swap type sites out there already, they tend to be specialist ones ie for clothes or for books. Then of course there is free cycle which isn't technically a swap site but does pass things on to a good home.
Obviously nothing can be done through MSE due to the following rule:
PERSONAL DETAILS AND THE OFFERING OF ITEMS FOR SALE/TRADE/EXCHANGE/SWAP/GIFTS
Please refrain from requesting the exchange of personal details either on the forum, via PM or email; particularly for the purposes of selling/trading/exchanging/swapping or giving as gifts. This includes posting links to your ebay auctions, or other forms of advertising.

gumtree offers a free local swap section0

I use one already called hitflip and its pretty good although often try and find items in english on their german site or autrian site as that one seems to have more products to swap. You could always look on the site for ideas if you wanted to do a similar thing locally or something . . .0

I have had an email from Hitflip to say they are closing down their UK operation. You will lose any flips you have. Any account balance can be refunded LESS a transaction fee of £2.99.
What a bunch of conmen!:mad:0
