Don't buy with MFI!

I am wondering how many others have been promised the world by MFI but they fail to deliver. I had a kitchen from them installed by their workmen in August 2007. Since that time we have been back and forth to get the substandard kitchen that was fitted changed. We have never been able to use the extractor fan as the venting kit blows apart. Edges of doors have a preformed 'chip' on them and lots of other faulty parts. In the time we went back to MFI they originally tried to get the faulty items replaced and then... the kitchen is no longer part of their stock as they have changed dealers. SO... after seeing three managers come and go the last one promising us that we could replace the kitchen in the winter sales 2008 the upshot is another new manager comes in and tells us that it is all down to wear and tear! We also took out a 5 yr warrenty of which this new manager said was worthless. The matter is now in the hands of the furniture ombudsman as MFI has taken our money and thats the end of the matter with them. They advocate quality but the kitchen I bought had very little of that. The workman even put in place a damaged wall carcass and said they had ordered a new one to replace it, which they did, but hey, its all down to wear and tear says the manager and forget having it replaced! Even the bits that did come to replace the faulty items had worse faults than the original but hey its all down to wear and tear says the manager!

    Nightmare!
I didn't know you could take out a 5 year warranty on a kitchen. How was that set up?

Funny thing is, that was what the salesman told us and is recorded on our list of things we bought - but we never got any documentation about it. We did query this but have had no satisfactory answer except that it is worthless from the most recent of the managers.

Did you have to pay for the warranty?

    Hi
Was part of the overall cost of the kitchen. But its definately down on the list of items bought. I queried what it was all about and salesman said that if something went wrong with the kitchen eg. a door fell off it would be replaced. Also protection against manufacturing faults - Hah!
