Congratulations on your high standards. Take it you haven't ever been out of work then - especially not in the current climate or at this time of year?
Take a look at the real world..........
(I bet you think that anyone on benefits is living off your money as well don't you?)

No I don't think that at all - benefits are there for a reason - to support people when they need it - not when they'd like it as they're not really interested in finding a job!

Britain's benefit system is something that we should be proud to have technically, it's just too many people see it as an option, not a last resort.

thanks very much to everyone replying with info, has put my mind at ease. i'll head down soon to have a word.

as to the posters complaining about people on JSA going on holiday.... i find it quite strange that some people still have the attitude of practically chaining jobseekers to their front doors. everyone needs a break every now and then and it can be really beneficial to jobhunting. taking some time out puts things into perspective and can bring around new ideas and aspirations.

JSA is the last resort for me, i don't like claiming benefits, i spent 6 months living off the wages from my last job while looking for jobs and applying for courses. in september i'll be signing off to start full time study, so i can gain better job prospects by getting qualifications. i have taken the logical and sensible route (which every person in this country has a right to) of getting support in hard financial times. i refuse to be made to feel bad by strangers with a blinkered view of the world :)
