Traveling to The USA for 6 Weeks - How should we do Money?

Me and a friend are off to the USA for 6 weeks traveling around.
We were wondering the best way (and cheapest way) to do money?
Currently i have:
Nationwide Cashcard
Natwest Student Credit card (Emergency use)
Natwest Maestro Card (not sure how the charges work)
We were considering a currency card from the Post office aswell?
I will have internet banking set up with the nationwide and natwest accounts and in total we are looking to have access to about £2000
we leave on the 30th so time is limited to sort things out, what would be the best options with lowest (if any) charges?
many thanks
Stefan
