Travel Insurance recommendations

My partner and i are travelling to egypt in september, for 14 nights.
The travel company offered us travel insurance for £60. I've not been that many places but this seems a bit steep. I've looked on moneysupermarket.com and I am bewildered by what its sent back!
Can anybody recommend a good travel insurer? Is it ' you get what you pay for' and are cheap deals to be avoided?
Any help greatly appreciated thanks

In terms of cover you do get what you pay for to be honest....
Post Office is not always the cheapest but offers good cover and was voted the best at some travel award thing -
That comes back at £50 for your trip to Egypt (provided you under 65 - sorry no idea how old you are!!). Or for an annual European policy for the both of you (as Egypt is included in Europe at the Post Office - don't ask me why??!!) is £72 if you will be taking another trip this year.
Also usually you own bank can give you a good deal with a good level of cover.0 -
goldfish are pretty good, we use them all the time.
for the EU we pay about 1.40 per day each and the cover and service is great. Have a look at their web sitemake the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.0 -

Just thought i would explain why - Any country that borders the Med is classed as part of Europe (for travel insurance purposes) so Egypt should be under european insurance with ALL companies.
Hope that helps

I have always used www.charterflights.co.uk/travel-insurance
They offer a competitive range of policies and if you change your mind you can cancel. The cover summary is explained really well making it easy to compare to other policies.

Hi
We have used Go travel insurance before.
£83 worldwide for the two of us.
Never claimed so can't say if they are good or not.0 -
http://www.direct-travel.co.uk/single-trip.aspx
I have used them frequently over the last few years - always good prices. I had to claim from them last year when my son was taken into hospital to have his appendix removed whilst on holiday in Canada. A simple phone call to thei emergency number and everything was handled smoothly and with no fuss - hospital bill was settled directly by the insurer.0 -
I have just signed up for a policy with Atlas Direct.
The policy cost £48 for a family of 4. It is an annual policy with £0 excess. THe £0 excess option was only £6 more than the £65 excess option.0
