Finding The Best Reduced Priced Items-When/Where/What Time???

Being a diligent moneysaver (or trying to be
) I was wondering when/where/what time you guys shop to get the best reduced priced bargains.
When we are in need of bread etc, I send OH to Asda around 7-8pm and he normally gets Warburtons or Asdas luxury loaves reduced to about 40p a loaf from £1 a loaf. He only likes thick sliced bread and buys normally what they have there as we are lucky to have a large chest freezer
The other night we also got some Warburtons white rolls (12) for 44p and muffins 25p.
I am lucky that we have an Asda, Tesco, Sainsburys and Safeways all quite local
Although cheap bread/bakery items are great I am more interested in the meat/poultry and main meal item reductions. I will then be able to work out main meals with the reduced priced items and save more money that way-although meal planning has saved us a lot of money-im sure we can cut back further. When do you find is the best time to get the best bargains and at what supermarkets? What are some of the best reductions you have bought & where etc?
Thanks in advance.

There are all sorts of tips on shopping where and when in the Shopping section of the MEGA Index sticky that you could browse through, and I suspect there'll be plenty of pointers in Shop But Don't Drop too.
That should keep you busy for a while

I dont seem to have the bargains that others get. Though have been there late and early depending on what I am doing. Last RFQS I bought was 50p of meat..... hardly earth shattering but a saving all the same.
Mind you I have one really local supermarket, the other, is on the edge of town and I live over on the other side!!0 -
Hi Penny-Pincher!!,
I hope you don't mind, but I'm going to move your thread over to shop but don't drop, where hopefully you will get more replies.

Martin’s asked me to post this in these circumstances: I’ve asked Board Guides to move threads if they’ll receive a better response elsewhere(please see this rule) so this post/thread has been moved to another board, where it should get more replies. Last xmas eve my Mum managed to get a few fresh turkeys for 50p (her cats were very happy) although this was about an hour before closing.0

For me, Tesco seems to reduce their bread about 6pm - closing time 9pm, first reductions on meat is early am and then they second reduce it about 6pm and final reduce about 8.30pm. Saying that I won't go to the 8.30pm one because of the aggression. People will literally push past you with a trolley to get a piece of meat for 50p. For me, not into sever pain, just not worth it.
Asda try and get their markdowns finsihed about a hour before closing in my experience. Sunday can be a good day - they start around 1-2pm (closing at 4pm), but you have the aggression again.

My daughter works at Tesco and says they start reducing cakes and bread at about 7pm. She brought home lovely chocolate and orange muffins at 10p per pack but as she's veggie she doesn't look at the meat.0

both our tescos are open 24 hours Mon-Sat. Does anyone know the times they tend to reduce? Obviously Sundays are the same.
I've noticed the Asda reductions in our two stores (opened a year ago) are nowhere near as good as they were.0 -
I used to do the reducing at my local sainsbury's a few years ago. Meat reductions generally started from 5pm onward and got bigger towards the end of the day.
However my little yellow stickers seemed to attract all many of undesirable and downright rude people (we called the !!!!!! at the shop). If any of them bothered me i used to put the tickets away and go out the back for a chat.what a 42 carat plonker you really are Rodders0
