Where do you buy your visa at Hurghada airport

The reason I ask is, last year when we went through to passport control we were met by our rep, now, the guy asked to see our passports and then said he would get the visa's for us......Stupidly I gave him £80 sterling as he said that was how much they were.
Clearly, he made a nice little earner as they are only $15 each, we needed four....
I dont want ripped off again, and I definitely didnt see where to buy them from..... kids were moaning etc etc as kids do.

Thanks in anticipation

you dont need a visa unless your going out of hurgada i.e on a boat trip ect ect. if you are going out of hurgada here is what you do, you get out of the bus up the steps into the building on the left there are some blokes behind some wooden stalls it will have your tour operator logo above or on the front you go to that stall give them £10 for each person then through to passport control. I've been to hurgada about 6 times now and was only ripped off once i gave them £15 instead of £10.

    Hope this helps

p.s just another one if your visa is still valid from last time you might not need one :)

Eh - you have to have a visa (and pay for it) if entering Egypt at Hurghada - and it's been like that for a long time. In any case the system changed last year

That's good the price's come down. Last time I went to Egypt we were told to offer them £10 english, some people I noticed were ripped off. It's best to always have the right amount of money as they'll never give you change.

I paid US$10 each when I flew into Hurghada earlier this year in March. There were 3 or 4 desks in the main arrivals hall, opposite end of the room to passport control. If you follow the crowd and make like sheep, you'll naturally head that way. If you try to get through passport control without the correct stamp, then they'll shout and point where you're supposed to go.

It's not complicated at all so you should be fine! Try to take the right money with you in US$, as they don't give change either!

Thanks all for the replies, had bad flight times last year, so we were a bit out of sorts when we arrived............. wont happen this time though..I particularly liked Cazza's reply............ yep.. follow the sheep... I do remember seeing a queue, I thought they were with a tour company... ah well, looking forward to the holiday, 2 weeks and 3 days............

We paid in USD in April, as someone else said they are not optional I think we paid about $10 each.

I think it is Sharm where you don't need a visa if you are staying in the resort.;)

  • Hi the correct price ( it is printed on the visa ) is $15 and yes you need one for Hurgh - not for Sharm is you are not going to ras Mo or leaving Sinai.
