Sorry, one more question..
If i found myself in a position where i had to apply for credit of some description, would i be better going to my mortgage lender of 3 years the Alliance and Leicester (My thinking is that they have agreed to me being on a jint mortgage with my brother for £143000), or to a company found through a search engine somewhere.
Thanks0 -
My experience of a similar situation is that it won't matter if you stick with the same one or go elsewhere, they will have a set criteria and credit rate (score) you.
I had a mortgage with an ex, we split, I wanted to get my brother on the mortgage, the application was rejected on the grounds of a previous CCJ (now long gone but was 5 years and 3 months old at the time). I pointed out that I was already on the mortgate, they knew about the CCJ when I first got the mortgage and I wasn't altering anything to do with me, we just wanted a straight swap, my ex for my brother. They wouldn't budge.
The only thing I can think of suggesting with your current bank is speaking to your bank manager in person, they would be more likely to bend the criteria a bit for you or turn a refer into a yes if you have presented your circumstances face to face.
If you are doing the apps online it won't make any difference which bank/company you choose existing or new will still have the set of criteria they score on in place.A+L Loan £168 Hitachi Loan £0 Bank of dad £19,664
