Help: scanner not working

I'm totally puzzled. scanner (Epson Perfection 1670) was working fine a few days ago, but now does nothing. Plugged in, connected by USB to the computer, but no power light at all. Anything else plugged into the same power point works fine. Had this problem a few months ago and I tried another scanner (Mustek 600CU) but had the same problem. The power leads are different for each too, so I wasn't sharing them. Then the Epson burst into life again. Now it's stopped. Anybody have any ideas?

check you havent inadvertantly switched the lamp switch off underneath. They have a lock so that the lamp is safe when you move them about. On mine it is just a little sliding switch on the bottom.

Not locked on the Epson and the Mustek doesn't seem to have any way of locking it anyway.

Well, I'm not quite sure what is going on, but the Epson seems to be working again. It does seem like the power cable is faulty. No idea what is wrong with the other scanner.
