Swiss travel discount cards

I'm spending a week in Jungfrau region of Switzerland (driving there) next month, and tying myself in knots about whether to get a discount card for the mountain railways, and if so which one.

We're likely to be going up First, a roundtrip from Grindelwald-Mannlichen-Wengen-Grindelwald, Schynigge Platte and perhaps Grindelwald-Interlaken-Brienz.

The options I'm looking at are the Jungfraubahnen pass, or a Swiss half fare card.

The Jungfraubahnen pass appears to give free travel on all of the above, other than the boat from Interlaken-Brienz. It costs CHF195 for 6 days (= approx £100), and by my maths the saving would be CHF240. I'm tending to lean against that, because although it'd save thirty quid, it only takes a couple of days of dodgy weather making one of the trips not worthwhile to wipe out the saving.

The half fare pass is £52, which on the face of it seems a better bet because it has wider coverage hence e.g. would cover the boat from Interlaken-Brienz. However, I'm confused because the only availability map on the Swiss Travel System website applies to the Swiss Pass and Swiss Card (these give free travel generally). For these passes, the bulk of the trips I mention above are marked as "half price" rather than free. Does this mean I still get half price for the Swiss Half Fare Card, or do I only get half of the usual discount, ie get 1/4 discount?
I really must stop loafing and get back to work...

You get half price - ie the standard discount. You don't get any extra discount, nor do you get a smaller one.

Have you considered the Berner Oberland pass which includes the Jungfrau regions but a bit more. It's CF224 for 3 days unlimited travel and 4 day of reduced - you use the 3 days unlimited in areas where it is completely free and the other 4 days in areas where you have to pay a supplement anyway. This pass includes travel on the lake steamers.
