Hi all, after some help from all you experts.

After reading in the papers the past few days about the cost of Gas and electric going to go through the roof i dont know what to do. Do i need to cap them now???

Gas is with EDF Energy standard tariff currently paying £35 per month DD

Electric is with E-on standard tariff currently paying £41 per month DD

Can anyone please help me in what to do for me to keep the cost down?

Many thanks

"Wear two jumpers this winter" - Jake Ulrich, MD, Centrica Energy (owners of British Gas)

Perhaps Mark Hanafin will have some more top tips in his new role as MD next month?
Don't expect too much help though - he's come direct from Shell where he's been for the last 21 years - and a company that made £13.9billion profit in 2007.

Maybe some more constructive advice? :)

"make sure [you are] on the cheapest possible energy supply deal. Many customers are struggling to pay bills which could easily be cut if they switched to internet - only accounts" - Nick Clegg, Leader of the Liberal Democrat party.

If you want the cheapest prices today, probably not.

But if you want the cheapest cost over a period of time, perhaps yes.

You'll usually pay a premium today for any capped deal price, but have the security of knowing prices won't increase over the capped rate during that period. By how much prices will increase and when is anyone's guess. Only you can make the call whether it is better to cap or not cap once you identify the premium you will have to pay for the security of the cap.
