Advice on site has saved us over £1200

Hi,
Just thought I would write to thank all of you on this site for the fantastic advice and interesting stories.

In just one weekend and lots of browsing we have made savings in excess of £1200 per annum already and we haven't finished yet!
This is what we have done so far:

1 Changed ADSL (with static ip) from BT to https://www.cpbb.co.uk saving £335.52

2 Changed building and contents insurance on house we live in from Brittania to Tesco saving £104.24

3 Changed buildings and contents insurance on 2nd house we rent saving £133.49

4 Closed current account (advantage gold) with Nat West and moved to Alliance and Leicester saving £108.00 on fees

5 Put all joint savings in my name only (yipee) as I am a non tax payer saving £121.99 in interest based on last year

6 Changed savings account from Nationwide to Alliance and Leicester gaining £87.50 interest

7 Changed kids accounts from WBBS to Alliance and Leicester gaining £115.00

8 Signed up for 18866 telephone calls instead of BT projected saving based on old bills £172.00

9 Phoned Sky and got all movies for £20.00 for 3 months saving £60.00

A grand total of £1237.74 in one weekend not bad eh?

And we thought we were on top of our finances! Just goes to show that you have to keep on checking all the time to ensure you still have got the best deals around.

Thanks again and I will let you know how and when we have made any further cuts.

Hi, we switched our insurance on the house we rent to the Halifax - all other companies we tried wanted to charge us silly amounts as we would not be occupying the property ourselves.
