LLoyds TSB Car insurance plus Quidco - advice please

My father's car insurance is due within the next 2 weeks so I'm searching for the best deal for him using the usual on-line sites, eg GoCompare, Confused, MoneySupermarket etc. The best price I have found, for all of his requirements, is £231 with Lloyds TSB.
Quidco is advertising £45 cashback with Lloyds TSB Car Insurance but when I go to the Lloyds TSB site via Quidco the quote comes out at £245.70!
My question is, if I go to the Lloyds TSB site via Quidco then paste in the http address for the £231 quote, will it still track?
Any help or advice would be appreciated.

In short no.
Read up at Quidco about the problems getting insurance cashback, and the steps to take to minimise the risk of not getting the cashback.0 -
Be very careful.
If you have already got a quote from a comaprison site then THEY will want the cashback and not quidco.
My advice would be either to use a different computer e.g. work instead of home.
OR
use a different browser
e.g. if you have used comparison sites on Mozilla Firefox then do the quidco stuff on Internet Explorer (you still need to make sure cookies etc. are set up correctly).
I use this method and I've never had any problems with cashback in the last 3 years.0 -
Have you tried getting a quote (perhaps with a fake name) without Quidco and without using a comparison site?Mortgage | £145,000Unsecured Debt | [strike]£7,000[/strike] £0 Lodgers | |0

Hi Badger_Lady,
Just tried your suggestion and the quote came out at £250.95!
I've only ever taken out two insurance policies through Quidco and both paid cashback within three months so I think I'll recommend the £245.70 quote with £45 cashback and hope that Lloyds TSB come up with the goods. I would do this on my home PC to eliminate all posible links with comparison sites.
Either that or he can stick with his current insurer (Saga) and pay £229 with no risk of Quidco not tracking.
Thank you all for your help and advice.
Cheers,

To be on the safe side, I'd get a new quote i.e. don't retrieve an old one as it may have links to the comparison site.Either that or he can stick with his current insurer (Saga) and pay £229 with no risk of Quidco not tracking.
As you point out there is always a risk, plus it takes about 4 months to get the payment.
Make sure the quotes have been compred.
e.g. do they have the same cover, same excesses etc.
Do they include NCD protection, legal cover, breakdown etc.
What about charges for cancellation.
I would be suprised if they are identical.
I think it's a bit of close call personally so I'd be checking the quote details thoroughly before making a decision.
I've recently had a claim with Lloyds TSB and they were pretty good.
They were also reasonable on charges when I wanted to add other drivers.
Don't know about saga.0 -
I know Saga (but I'm not employed by them or anyone working with them) and they are ok. It may be worth phoning Saga and telling them you are looking to cancel your Dad's insurance (provided he gives them the ok to speak to you, they will) as you have got a quote at £x (where £x is the net price after cashback). Ask them if there is any movement on the renewal price to retain the business. Even if they don't give you any discount the call will be beneficial; you can ask them to remove your Dad from their marketing database so that he doesn't receive half a tree in junk mail from them!!In the beginning, the universe was created. This made a lot of people very angry and was widely regarded as a bad move. The late, great, Douglas Adams.0

My current car policy is via LloydsTSB, expiring early December, obviously i will be taking out a new policy via a CB site probably TCB as im on the 104% rate this month.
I wondered what experience anyone has of going with LloydsTSB two years running and getting the 2 months free on the second year as I dont use the car every day I was  about leaving the car in the garage for a couple of days and taking out a new policy to begin say two days later than when the current policy is due for renewal.0
