NEDL advice needed!

Morning all –
On Thursday, our electricity went off at 2pm. We live in a row of flats on Newcastle Quayside and all the flats were without power, whereas streets around us were on.
There was very little information to begin with but at about 9pm, we received a call from NEDL saying it was unlikely we would have power until morning. Fair enough, I thought – this things happen and it gave us a chance to play Monopoly by candlenight (we’re so staid!).
Long and short of it – it still wasn’t on by the time I went to work the next day and when I called up for an update, they said a transformer had blown and they were working on it – but that they’d need people back in their flat to test things and that it couldn’t come back on until this had been done, so I went home four hours early. I let them know by phoning and actually going outside to speak to the engineers that I was back in the flat, but no-one came around until 8pm. When they did come, they were surprised as ‘I could have been switched on much earlier, but they didn’t know I was in’! Didn’t know! I told about 4 different people!
Anyway no matter, they were working hard. Thing is, the freezer defrosted (only a small one, as it is a flat) and the food went yucky, but we’ll use their “more than 18 hours off and we’ll give you £50 compensation to replace that. But, when the electricity either went off or came on, it knocked out our digital radio – was working before, and now will not turn on. It was only a small thing – about £40.00 – but I was wondering of the likelihood of NEDL paying us to get a new one as we’re a) tight and b) having to replace it through no fault of our own. I was always really polite on the phone to them (unlike some of the other, snotty, residents) so who knows. Does anyone have any feedback? Oh, we were off in total for 30 hours in total.
Cheers!
