Soundproofing Window Help Please

:o Hi we live on a busy main road and the traffic noise can be unbearable in the bedroom - facing road on ground floor.

I was wondering if anyone had any cheap ideas of cutting down on the sound. We can't afford to get triple glazed window - we have double glazing already. We don't want additional secondary glazing or any shutters.

Recently on holiday we were sitting outside a bar and it was peaceful. When we went inside we were amazed at how loud the music was!! Yes they may have had triple glazing but they also had these plastic type curtains that I suspect were very heavy - but the sound insulation was amazing.

Has anyone any idea where to purchase this type of material and has anyone experience of a similar situation?

Thanks
