I use excel to budget plan and for my spending diary. Everything was fine until yesterday when I opened the spreadsheet all the gridlines had disappeared. I have checked on tools and it shows gridlines is still ticked. They show on print preview but not on the open document. Neither do they show on last months spreadsheet or on any new ones I open. Has anyone any ideas and please explain in words a 5 year old could understand as I am completely useless at anything technie.

Mortgage and Debt free but need to increase savings pot.

Have you tried going to Tools>Options>View tab and then checking that Gridlines is ticked? That is how my Excel 2003 is set up.0

Are you using 03?
Try:
Display of gridlines: File, Page Setup, Sheet
Gridlines (checked)0 -

The only other thing I can think of is the colour of the gridlines is set to white. This is just under where you can turn the gridlines on and off, which you've already checked.
But both of these options refer to only the spreadsheet you have open - not the whole application. And I find it even odder that they show on print preview. Normally gridlines do not show when printing - although I daresay there's an option somewhere that does print them. [Edit: aha! The post above is where that option is. Although I don't think that affects them displaying, or otherwise, in the normal view.]
Are you able to check the spreadsheet on a different PC? Or even on a different account on the same PC?0 -
Thanks John and sorry for the delay in answering but I couldn't get on here at all yesterday as GC were monopolising it. I asked GS (16) and he said check the colour of the gridlines but has left me to do so rather than offering. I am off of to do that now. As a temporary measuse I have outlined all the cells which looks roughly the same but its still odd where the actual automatic gridlines went and why. I will continue to fiddle and if I happen to stumble on an answer I will post again. In the meantime thanks to eveyone for their help.Mortgage and Debt free but need to increase savings pot. :think:0
