where to stay in Rye?

Hi,
We are going to a wedding in rye and reception in peasmarsh on 27th September and I've started searching for somewhere to stay. Alot of places seem booked up already  maybe I should have started earlier!
Does anyone have any suggestions on where to stay? It all seems quite expensive really.
Im looking for friday 26th and saturday 27th september.
Ideally we want somewhere with a little more than just a room as we have our two year old and would like her to nap in the day and sit in a lounge/conservetory/bar etc while she sleeps. not the end of the world if we cant do that but thats what we hope to find as it will make everything less stressful.
One of our friends and her partner are going as well and we did think about renting a cottage and splitting the cost. but they only need to stay for one night so it would work out fairly expensive for them.
Any help or ideas would be greatly appreciated!

What is your budget?0

difficult to know really. I mean - we have to stay somewhere so we will have to pay out. I was hoping to manage the two nights for less than £100 total for the two of us - not per person (which I still think is more expensive than initially hoped) but the best quotes I can get are about £160.
Thought about going further afield and driving in but there is a gap between ceremony and reception so we would like to go back to where we are staying and we also need our toddler to have a nap.
any ideas?0 -
There's a Travelodge at Hastings; is that too far away?
The self catering sounds a really good idea; couldn't you persuade your friends to make a weekend of it? It's such a lovely area that it seems a shame to just go to the wedding and go home. They might well find that 2 nights sharing a cottage with you would be cheaper than one night in an hotel.0 -
hastings is a bit further than we thought. It also means we cant leave little one in the room with a monitor and be just in a lounge. But if it was alot cheaper I would. however - checked it out and it would be £120 so not really worth it.

I have stayed here before and would thoroughly recommend. Might be over your budget though as rooms seem to start from £95.00 based on two sharing. They were quite happy to put up a travel cot though for us if that would suit your 2 year old. There is a lounge where you can relax and have a drink and also the new addition of a garden. Great breakfast with extra touches to keep smaller guehttp://www.rye-tourism.co.uk/holiday_cottages.aspsts happy! Right in the centre of Rye. http://www.durranthouse.com/index.html
You may be able to find a cottage more cheaply that will do short term lets - there seem to be a few here! http://www.rye-tourism.co.uk/holiday_cottages.asp0 -
Looks lovely. shame my husband is lying on the floor having declared a heart attack at "the prices these days". sigh.
I've seen the link before for b and bs but not cottages - will take a look in a min so thanks very much.0 -
I'm guessing that the reception is at the Flackley Ash...
You could try the River Haven Hotel at £65 B&B per room per night for a double.

The Ship Inn is £75 per room...

I don't know the rates at the Playden Oasts...

The Queen's Head is £70 per room

And you could try one of these...

thanks. had looked at all of those. alot of places are booked already - must either be a big wedding, a wedding where people are super organised or lots of weddings that weekend!
I am still suprised that it costs so much to stay away.
HOWEVER on a really positive note I have managed to find a lovely cottage and my friends will stay both nights so £95 each for a whole weekend! bonus.0 -
Glad that you managed to find something.
My dad has some holiday cottages down there, so was going to give you his details otherwise.
It's such a lovely part of the world so you should have a lovely weekend. If you do make a weekend of it and the weather is good then a trip to the beach at Camber Sands would be good

A meal at The Place, Camber Sands is also to be recommended. Fabulous food, take a look at the menu at http://www.theplacecambersands.co.uk/suppermenu.html
Child friendly too with great kids menu!
Well worth it! Can't wait to go back!0
