What income declare without an annual income as such?

in Credit cards
Hello,
Since I'd like to increase my credit card credit limit, the credit card company asks for my "gross annual income".
The trick is I have no fixed gross annual income, but I am on hourly-paid contracts which give me variable monthly income.
Then, what annual figure should I refer to to answer the credit card company?
I suppose the situation is the same for self-employed/freelance people.
Should I choose my 2007-8 yearly income?
Should I pick my highest monthly pay in the last 3, 6, 12 months?
Is there any specific regulation on that situation, or is it only a rule of thumb?
Should I give the gross annual income I would get if I was employed full-time with the pay rate I'm currently on?
Thanks a lot in advance.
William

I would put the total as per your income for the last tax year.0
