How have I messed up on 0%?

I got a Tesco CC in Feb with 0% BT and 0% Tesco purchases for 13 months, with 0% for 6 months on other purchases.

I read the MSE rules for not spending on a 0% BT unless the 0% on purchaces is for the same length of time so I have only used my card a few times on Tesco purchases.

Get on line statements so had made my payment after a cursory look at the spends.

T&Cs are about to change, so was also sent a paper statement that I have just looked at and have an interest charge of 8p and estimated for next month at 17p.

The summary line for this reads

Balance, purchases, interest rate 1.313%, interest 0.08 pounds, outstanding balance 12.43

There are 3 purchases listed, 41.58 and 15.20 same day, same store (two separate transactions that I made.) The last was for 12.35 made at a new Tesco Express on 22nd June. The interest is down for 4th July.

This looks like I am being charged interest on the 12.35 spent in the new store.

I know it isn't much, but can't find anything to help me understand why, and I have also used my card to shop for my mother here since this statement was made up. Obviously with a BT I won't be clearing the balance every month, so would use cash in future.

Just wondering if anyone has any insight into why interest would be charged before I get in touch with them and make a fool of myself.

Thanks

Have you checked your T&C's to see if Tesco Express purchases are excluded from the offer?

Can't check those T&C's online now because it looks like the offer has changed and Tesco purchases no longer enjoy 13 months 0%.

Thanks, the first thing I did was check on line to find T&C had changed. I will need to find the one filed under P for paper. I thought I saved an email from when I set it up, but can't find one.

If that is all it is then I suppose I can afford 17p a month. Just worried that I might have breached the T&C in some other way and forfeit the deal.

    Thanks again

A similar thing happened to me, where I was being charged interest, even though I only used the card in Tesco stores and was still in the 0% period for Tesco purchases. Worked out from the (albeit low) interest charges that I was being charged for purchases in a Tesco Express attached to an Esso garage. I called to query it, the charge was refunded. Sadly, I had to go through this rigmarole every month (because I used that store pretty regularly) until I reached the end of the 0% offer and paid the card off in full.

Call Tesco to ask them why the interest has been applied.

Thanks, I don't mind calling as long as I know it wasn't me being stupid. I didn't even need to spend such a low amount on my card, just thought it was easier to do it, and won't do it again.

They have Tesco signs, sell Tesco products, ask if you have a clubcard, so as far as I was concerned it was a Tesco store. It's not the cost, it's the principle.

I think this has come up before where Tesco Express transactions were not counted as part of the standard Tesco purchases deal.

Still check with them though. Good Luck
