Recommend a VOIP company please!

Can anyone recommend a voip company that has a straightforward way of buying credit? I live in Morocco, and the only method I can use is to buy online with a credit card. I can't find any voip companies who offer this!! Can anyone help?

I'm looking for a company that offers free calls to UK and French landlines.

I don't know where you have looked, but in my experience credit cards are the most widely accepted method of paying for VoIP services. Some also accept PayPal, so maybe you could set up a PayPal account linked to your credit card.

VoIP companies I like:

• Nonoh (http://www.nonoh.net) - for its low rates and flexibility. Can be used via an access number, callback service, or VoIP client software. Probably only the latter is suitable for Morocco. Free calls to UK and France landlines when you purchase some credit.
• Other Betamax VoIP - Nonoh is one example of a Betamax VoIP service; there are many more (e.g. voipdiscount, voipstunt etc) a good list comparing prices is available here: http://www.backsla.sh/betamax
• SIPGate (http://www.sipgate.co.uk/) - useful because you get a free UK incoming number (standard geographic area code) to allow people to call you. Works well with VoIP client software or SIP compatible hardware. However, outgoing calls are not free (except to other SIP numbers).

Thanks so much, voipstunt, voipdiscount & voipcheap don't let me pay by credit card directly unfortunately. But will def check out Nonoh!

Unfortunatey Nonoh are like the others - they only let me pay by regular bank transfer (slow) Western Union, Pay by Phone, Py by Text, UKash, Voip Resellers, and Redeem Vouchers.

Is there any ompanies out there that I can just tap in my credit card and have it debited through world pay or paypal or something simple like that??

Thanks for any suggestion - they certainly don't make it easy for you to spend money though!!

I've got the feeling they all stopped allowing credit cards due to the abuse from stolen cards....

Well I'm still paying for my Nonoh account by credit card, so I thought I'd open a new account to see if they accept credit cards for new accounts.

When you open an account they ask you which country you are in. If you select UK, you get the full range of payment options, including credit card and PayPal. You then need to validate the account by giving them a UK mobile phone number which they text a validation code to.

Are you from the UK? Do you have a UK address you could use to register and access to a UK mobile number where you could receive an SMS message? I guess you can only pay by credit card if the card is registered to the UK address you give when you register, but you might still be able to pay via PayPal with a credit card registered in Morocco.

Hi there, thanks so mich for trying for me Benjus. For some reason it is different for me, I signed up giving my parent's address in the UK (I have a credit card in my name still registered at that address) but I get only the same options coming up, and definitely no paypal or payment by credit card. Don't know if the website automatically knows I am abroad or what, and bars me from paypal and credit card payments. It's driving me mad though, I am unable to use voip at all and I really could do with it! If anyone has any suggestions at all I would be very grateful.

Just sent Nonoh and email and got the following reply...

Sorry, it’s not possible to use this payment method anymore. Please use one of the other payment methods which are indicated on your account.

Surely there must be one voip company in the world that takes direct payment by credit card??

I guess they probably are tracking the IP address used to open the account and identifying it as being outside the UK.

I'm sure there are plenty of VoIP companies that have good customer service departments and would be flexible with you if you spoke to them on the phone - I have had good experiences with Gradwell.co.uk for example. However, you say you want free calls to UK and French landlines, which AFAIK is only offered by the "bargain basement" VoIP companies like the Betamax franchises.

Could you ask your parents (or somebody else you trust) to open a new account on your behalf, with all your details and credit card information, then forward the username/password on to you? Once it is all set up I don't think there would be a problem using it from abroad - I have certainly used my Nonoh account from Spain with no problems.
