Just to warn people that the 50p grated cheese is for the WHITE grated cheese only, the red grated cheese is full price (£1.33 I think).

Just come back from the Doncaster store and apparently quite a few people have been caught out by it - makes you wonder how many people haven't realised and paid full price after all!

Don't know if it is Morrison's being sneaky or because I need glasses to read small print, shelf labels etc.

see this from my opening post:- 3) mild white cheddar cheese 220g, mind you looking at the website even though the picture is off the mild white cheese, the description does only state mild grated cheese, so i suppose that is open to interpatation, but as you state it is defenately only the white cheese that is on offer at 50p, Dave

We don't have a pie counter, only a small roundabout thing near the door with a few bags of pies on it but alas no sausage rolls, and no ham on the deli counter. So where it all goes I do not know.
There were certainly no hanging signs either. Will try a different Morrisons tomorrow.

None of these in my local store again, in fact had to pay 79p for Celery yesterday (Tues 22nd)
  • Our local store will only allow 2 per customer. if you go back to the same checkout operator they will not serve you, and if you take more than 2 they shout somebody else to take extra back. There are no signs up for the public to see that says 2 only per customer but the staff say there are notices coming down the staff stairs reminding them.

the last offers were quite good and their sausages were yummy,

Went to one in Coventry today and WHAT a difference!!! Nice BIG signs hanging over where the items were, and they had plenty of them (it was 4.30) Sausage rolls were so yummy I had one on the way home and the ham looks lovely...shame it is not on my way home.

    Hi,

I am a senior manager (and reformed spendaholic :A ) for Morrisons - I will try to let you know these things in advance if I can! We generally find out on the Thursday of the previous week what is going to be on offer. We were lead to believe that the Price Crunch promotions were going to run weekly, however we were suprised when nothing came last week. We also do not know how long the promotion is set to run for, I guess it depends on how successful a tool this promotion is. We are lead to believe it is going to get pretty heavy in coming weeks; we are quietly applying a few thousand price reductions each week and have been doing so for three weeks or so now. We already have the best promotional package of any of the supermarkets and as for prices who says ASDA are the cheapest? There's a reason they always compare themselves with Tesco and sometimes Sainsbury's in their adverts and not us...

Every store has a very strict brief from H.O. on how products should be merchandised; every store should be exactly the same and should carry all lines - if yours isn't ask for the duty manager. For example, every deal should have a red price crunch arrow so items should be easy to see. The gammon ham should be merchandised at the front of counter. Even if the store does not normally stock a particular item it will be allocated to them for the duration. Other items similar to the ones advertised may be discontinued whilst the promo runs so as not to cause waste. Stores have no influence at local level to decided what they will and won't stock, likewise they have no influence on the levels of stock they carry as each product gets an initial allocation into store ready for Monday morning and from then on what is sent is based on daily sales.
Also a point to note: Whilst these promo's are designed to offer the best value to customers, they are also designed to get people into our stores - primarily those who may not normally shop with us. It's very easy to buy all eight items for £4.00, but do you need them all and how many other items will you pick up whilst you are there....mmmn the doughnuts look good lets get a packet! (I have to say our doughnuts are great)

PS, you ARE limited to two packs of each deal PER VISIT. As these deals can sell out at times, this rule is in place to allow ALL of our customers to have the chance to buy these items. If it was just a small amount of savy shoppers snapping everything up then this would be an ineffective and costly promotion mechanic...new shoppers coming into the store primarily to catch a deal would be left with a bitter taste if they couldn't get the items. It would be really easy to sell without limits (and VERY profitable), however ultimate sales from this promotion is not the aim. The aim is to gain and keep new customers by showing them how good our stores are. Stores are all aware that this is a strict policy and if they deviate then a) the store is put onto an Area Managers and/or Regional Directors S**t list and b) the member of staff who served you may get severe grief and the Checkout Manager and Senior management team will feel ringing in their ears! Some bargain hunters may slip through the net, just bear in mind that there can be consequences - it has happened before!

That was really interesting...but I guess, if a manager really doesn't want to stock the 50p items, if he's slow in getting them onto the floor on Monday, and thus has low sales, he wont get much more stock for the week...unless I complain!!!
I have to say my local one is very bad, I've waited nearly 15mins to get a dvd at customer services, and so complaining will take forever, and I only get 30 mins lunch break!
