Hi, I was just wondering see when we fill in the form about employment status, when we put in the actual phone number etc. say on a barclays card application form, will they phone up to check etc.? Also, do I actually fill in the place I am working at or the place which employs me? Because I am working in a practise but I get salaried by the NHS so I the guy who runs the practise doesn't actually 'employ' me as such since I am getting paid by the NHS ? So which details/ phone numbers should I fill in ?:A
Finally, I am looking to do BT of all my cards onto 1 card... If I have an MBNA card, I take it I shouldn't go and apply to capital one then since they are the same company, I would get less credit limit on the other card even if I was approved ?

Very unlikely that the Credit Card company will phone and check but they could (probably if something on the application raised suspicions).
Put the name and address of your employer - if you work at home for instance, you would put the full address of your employer, not your home address.
MBNA and Capital One are not the same company so you can BT between the two of them.0

Thanks Nick. Are there any specific cards you guys recommend for BT ? I was looking at the Barclay's Card 0% transfer for 14 months but I heard Barclays is not very good. I have an income of £32k before tax, what would the realistic credit limit be? I am looking to BT about £2.7k. I have a card with Egg and MBNA already so those 2 are not options0

Well your salary is good so provided your credit rating is reasonable you should get a decent limit on a BT card.
MBNA run cards (including the Virgin range) are one of my personal favourites for the following reasons :
 (a) The Credit Limits are on the high side
 (b) The minimum payment is usually very low (I've only ever paid £5 per month)
 (c) They allow you to hold multiple cards
 (d) You can swap Credit Limits across cards
 (e) They have been good for repeat 0% deals
This is my personal experience, but I'm sure others will have other views.0

But if I applied an MBNA card, surely the credit limit will be less than what I already have? Because I have an MBNA card that has a CL of £1.4k already but the BT offer ends in Sept. So I am looking for a new card for me to do a BT on the barclaycard looks like a good option so I might just try that. Also, with regards to the egg money, I prob. make more money doing matched betting than I do from the interest so unless I have a good £20+k to play around, I dont think I'd make very much from the interest. I recon I can make £3k or so from MB0

Well it is just an unknown quantity as to what Credit Limit you will be offered, all Credit Card Companies have different algorithms for working out individual limits. But as I have pointed out you can have several MBNA cards at the same time and you can request that they move the Credit Limits between those cards.
I don't want to sway you one way or another but there have been reports recently of Barclaycard offering particularly low limits of late and the minimum payments with Barclaycard will be higher than MBNA.
Sounds like your doing well with the Matched Betting. I'm the reverse, making several grand a year now by stoozing, but just can't get into Matched Betting.

Thanks again Nick - I think I'll try Barclaycard and if I don't get accepted, might try MBNA - would that affect my CR severely ?
You must have A LOT of money in stoozing - I don't have that much money to make it worth my time. You should REALLY try MB. Online alone, just from the first time offers, I made bout £3k the first 4 - 5 months. Now I am just using the continuing offers and make a good £200 a month on average. You can also do it in shops too - I made £250 in 1 day a few times although u might get recognized but I don't do it as much. But hey £250 a day for 1 hours work?? I think u'd be silly not to do it:T:T0

No, 2 applications shouldn't have too much of an affect on your Credit Rating at all.
I have made 5 applications on a single day once, and yes I have built up the stooze pot quite substantially in recent years. Hopefully you know that you don't need the money in your own right, you are borrowing the money from the Credit Card Companies and earning interest on that.
Must try harder to get into the Matched Betting - thanks for the tip :beer:0
