If you are paying for items and a store offers cashback (like Tesco and groceries) does the CC card company see this as purchases or a cash advance?? eg: I buy £30 worth of groceries at Tesco and they offer me cashback - is this seen as a grocery purchase as it's one transaction??
I could be completely wrong as I've only ever used a debit card and not even sure if they offer it for credit cards, does anyone know??
thanks

I don't believe that you can get supermarket cashback from Credit Cards, only Debit Cards.
It may be possible that you could get away with it if the cashier was a bit dosey, and I suspect that it would be treated as a normal puchase. Never done it myself though.0 -
No never done it - just wondered if it was possible?0

No it is not possible. Tills would not allow a cashier to do that. The banks would also not allow it, as it means they would lose out on their lucrative cash advance fees.0 -

Well it IS possible where the till and card terminal are not interlinked, maybe in a small retailer. (I've seen it done). It would be a purchase.
But not where the process is fully automated as in the major supermarkets, etc.0
