On Thursday the 31st of this month, My wife, baby and I need to get to London. What are the best ways to avoid the insane prices quoted online? Are there any deals on at the moment anywhere?

Chiltern Rail have currently got tickets from Birmingham Snow Hill to London for as low as £5 each way on the date you want.

Glad to hear it too. But I am puzzled about the 'insane prices quoted online'. I wouldn't call Virgin's advance singles insane (under £25 return achievable on your date). You do need to look at the 'two singles may be cheaper' link if the site you are using doesn't show you them first.

Agree the standard open fares are insane, but if you are flexible on times you don't have to pay them.
