Any cds with more than 80mins recording time?

Options
Have been downloading some short stories etc from the LibriVox site and burning them to cds, but would like to download books. Are there cds with a longer recording time than the standard 80 mins? You need at least 10 hrs for a book, which means a lot of cds- there must be an easier way to do it?!!
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

get an mp3 cd player, burn as mp3 (data rather than audio, so much smaller), there are no 10 hour cds out there, and never will be

You can get 99 minute ones but not all devices have the resolution in their lasers to read them (according to Wikipedia). What are you wanting to play them on? If it is a plain bog standard car cd player then you will be stuck to 80mins. If it is an MP3 cd player you have the possibility of fitting 10 hours onto one CD as an MP3 file (if 1 minute of talking equals 1mb)

Am recording things for my aunt who's blind. She just has a standard cd/radio player at home. Looks like I'm probably stuck with the 80mins cds then!! Thought there might be some way of making it easier for her by only having 1 or 2 cds per book....

not really going to save money, but this would be a good present for her, DAB radio plus MP3 cd player

I've got a 120 min disc but it's a DVD-RW so many players might not be able to play the disc.
  • Most DVD players can play mp3's.. They only cost 20 quid now

Sorry, should have made that clear I was referring to CD players not DVD players.
  • 99mins CD's are pretty cheap now.

You can use a burning application like Nero, that allows you to "overburn".

This basically means you will be able to fill the whole CD.

How about, burn books to DVD, cheap DVD player and wire-less headphones.
    Move along, nothing to see.
