ive just replaced my set of 4 steel wheels with alloys, and i am just wondering what i can do with the old wheels?? are they worth anything in scrap value? they dont have much tread left on them, proberbly 1-3 mm until becoming illegal
i also have the trims/hubcaps which i can sell on ebay as theyre off a golf MK4

Put winter tyres on them and put them on the car in winter. Then you'll have better grip in winter, and less road salt on your alloys.0

There scrap value is very low as it's only a few kgs of steel and you'd still have to dispose of the tyres
Either keep them as spares or stick them in the local paper for say £20 the set0 -
I’d go for the winter tyres option too, I’d guess to a scrap yard they are negative value as the tyres will cost more to dispose of than the steel is worth0

Put them back on, they will last as long as your car. One pothole and an alloy is *%"!*"" !0

Keep them
When you come to sell the car, put them back on and keep the alloys.
Even if you can't re-use the alloys you'd be able to sell them for more than the steel ones.
The tyres are also useless/worthless, only a fool would use second hand tyres0 -

Hopefully enough to pay your increased insurance premium. You have told your insurance company, haven't you?
Important as there was a thread here very recently where insurers were refusing to pay a claim because the car had non standard alloys that had been fitted by a previous owner and the current owner hadn't realised.0
