Post Office

Some contributors have said that companies monitor these posts so here's hoping the Post Office are one of them.
I have been clearing out my loft and wardrobe as I am trying to persuade my OH to move. I have been selling lots of stuff on ebay. I am heartily sick of getting moans and unhelpful staff in the post office. Yesterday I sent 8 parcels costing £16.00. The assistant at the Almada St, Hamilton sub post office moaned constantly about being fed up taking in parcels and how she did not like people selling on ebay. If I was to moan at my customers I would not have a job. I am lucky enough to stay in an area that has about 6 post offices within a couple of miles and they are all the same. One of them treats you as if you are a three year old by patronising you in the most ridiculous way. I don't expect the public to know about my job. I see it as my role to inform and assist them. I drive a car and don't know how that works, same with my computer so why should I be an expert in the workings of the PO. I did write and complain once and the letter read as though they thought I was of sub-normal intelligence.
What is it about this type of job that entitles staff to give PAYING customers such a hard time. If it wasn't for idiots like me there would be more closures as I am paying plenty of money on a fairly regular basis just now. I am serously thinking about taking the lot to the car boot to get rid of it quickly and not have the hassle of constantly packing stuff to get this reaction. Can you imagine other public service companies treating customers like this and not getting a reaction from their management.
That feels good to put all that down. Have a good weekend everyone.

if it's that bad, thought about setting up printing pay labels through royal Mail website/Paypal? You can do that can't you prepay? I appreciate she shouldn't let her feelings show... I deal with clients in my job and yes they're a pain in the proverbial but they pay the wages!!0

YES - if you really want to annoy the PO staff back (understandable if they are as you describe) do the pre-pay & print label thing (it's really easy) - then take it to the PO and ask for proof of posting on each one. They have to do this for you if you ask, but if you have not 'bought' the postage fromn them ,the PO does not 'earn' any money for the transaction! It will really annoy them....
I know about this as my really lovely Post Office staff explained it to me (very politely) so I stopped doing pre-printed labels so that they could earn their dosh - it didn't help - we sadly lost all our 'local 'PO's in the last round of closures recently, so this is one of the reasons I have had to close my ebay 'shop' as I can't easily get to the nearest main PO. This lady should think herself lucky she still has a job and be nice to the customers!

Thats absolutely disgusting and you should complain to her Branch Manager - you pay her wages after all!!
I work in a Post Office, City Centre Crown Office in Leeds, and I have to say it is hard work at times... we get some very ignorant customers (I'm not saying you) and it can be very trying on your patience and some clerks have the patience of a saint. However, I do agree with you that a lot of the Post Office staff are miserable buggas (take some of my colleagues:p).
A good point to make though, is that if you posted the items in a sub post office, a smaller office, it is likely that it is a franchised office which therefore pays their staff whatever they like (so minimum wage)!! If shes working for minimum wage this may explain her lack of charm and enterprise!!
And paying for your postage online won't annoy the staff!! It's good for us - it means we don't have to do any work. To be perfectly honest, Post Office don't make any money off postage anyway... we make a loss on it!!0 -

So if the op stops going there your saying the Manager won't earn anything? I've got a funny feeling she'll be on just as much as before.
I think people who claim they persons wages should put in perspective really. You are a customer, but you don't issue pay cheques. It's just arrogance claiming to pay an individuals wages.0
