Car Insurance - Registered owner query

We currently have a car owned and insured in my name, but with my wife named as the main driver, insured through Egg with full no claims discount.

We are changing car next week and considering registering the new car in my wife's name. My questions are:

1. Is there likely to be any benefit in doing this in terms of reduced premium?

2. Could this arrangement reduce our choice of insurer when we come to renew if we wish to retain our full NCD?

Comments

  • you need to ensure you tell your insurer of the change, do NOT just tell them you now have a new car. You might find they will only insure a car registered to the policy owner - dont risk not being covered. remember, its the policyholder who builds the NCB, not the 'Main Driver'.
