I've just firkled some potatoes and now I don't know what to do with the soil, is it ok to heap it over the earth in the garden (I don't grow any veggies in it they are all in pots), it seems such a waste to throw it in the bin but I don't have a compost heap.

Don't if you're meant to, but unless the plant has been diseased that's what I do with mine. There's probably not a lot of nutrients left in it, but my garden is horrible clay soil, which needs all the help it can get, so I look on it as something to improve the soil. All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.
Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.0 -
Like elsien I always spread my used compost over my flower beds, or use it as base for another pot or tub
Too precious to waste friable compost, and there will be some nutrients in it I'm sureNumerus non sum0 -
I,d spread it about the garden.:T:jDabbler in all things moneysaving.Master of none:o

Hi,Bag it and next year mix it with some new compost and fertiliser and use it in your baskets, tubs and troughs for your flowers. After all its only rotation the same as you would do in the garden. If you think this has helped make my day and hit the thanks button:beer:0

I put all my failed, weedy potted stuff into an commercial sized microwave (pot & all) and whizz it up to steaming temperature. Probably doesn't save much money, as I have to pay for the electric, but it means the compost is free from weeds and bugs. A dash of Osmacote & it is in business again.

What's the best thing to do with the compost from a used growbag? Seems a shame to waste it but I doubt it would be any use in my compost bin. Any ideas?0

Put it in a raised bed. Or you could probably grow something else in it. Spring onions over winter?Freedom is not worth having if it does not include the freedom to make mistakes.0

i thrown mine in my garden, round flowers and in the veggie plot0

Or put it in a tub or hanging basket & plant up some winter pansies, or bulbs for the spring.0

Agree use it as a mulch or add it to flower beds to give them a boost, i also use mine to repot house plants etc pointless adding to compost bin as its already compost!Total debt 26/4/18 <£1925 we were getting there.
